Latest civil service & public affairs moves – August 30

New appointments in the civil service, UK politics, and public affairs, via our colleagues on Dods People


Government departments:

  • HM Treasury: Office of Tax Simplification - Paul Johnson, John Cullinane and Kathleen Russ appointed as Non-Executive Directors to the Board. Adam Broke is stepping down from the Board
  • Foreign and Commonwealth Office: Andrew Heyn has been appointed Her Majesty's Consul General to Hong Kong and Non-Resident Consul General to Macao, replacing Caroline Wilson
  • Department of Health: NHS England – Joanne Shaw appointed as Non-executive Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee.
  • Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs: Natural England - Michael Winter appointed to the Board; Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board – Gary Taylor and Gwyn Jones reappointed as members.
  • Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy: Innovate UK – Chris Molloy named as the first Chief Executive of Medicines Discovery Catapult.
  • Non-Ministerial Departments: Ofsted – David Hoare has stood down as Chair; James Kempton appointed to the role on an interim basis.

Devolved Authorities:

  • Northern Ireland Assembly: Philip McGuigan (Sinn Féin) was co-opted to replace Daithí McKay as MLA for North Antrim.
  • Scottish Parliament: Michael Russell MSP to become Minister for UK Negotiations on Scotland's Place in Europe in the Office of the First Minister, and will attend cabinet (all subject to confirmation by the Scottish Parliament).

 

Local Authorities:

  • Inverclyde Council – Aubrey Fawcett to replace John Mundell as Chief Executive.
  • By-election Result 25th August Fife Council – Mary Lockhart elected for The Lochs – Labour gain from Independent.

Industry

  • Park Charitable Trust – The Charity Commission appointed Ian Oakley-Smith of PricewaterhouseCoopers as Interim Manager.
