Integrating Learning into a New IT Era

This round table, held in association with ATOS, will address the question... What has experience taught organisations about successfully adopting the tower and SIAM model?

For a couple of years now, public sector organisations have been moving from the traditional ‘system integrator’ model – under which a single IT supplier provides everything from desktop PCs to databases, storage to software – towards a ‘tower’ approach. This involves buying each service separately from a range of providers – and to manage the complexity this creates, a SIAM oversees and co-ordinates these different businesses.

The tower approach has many potential benefits. It enables buyers, for example, to bring in specialist providers whose services best meet an organisation’s needs; drive down costs by fostering competition; react more quickly to changing needs; and boost procurement from SMEs. Successfully moving to the model can be challenging but plenty of organisations, in both the private and public sector, have already made the shift and learned the lessons.
