‘Maths wrong’ on student fees

The government “got its maths wrong” when planning to raise tuition fees, according to Nick Hillman, former special adviser to university minister David Willetts.

Speaking to the Guardian, he said: “The government has got it wrong and therefore there is a big funding gap and something has to be done about it”. Graduates are paying back far less than was expected, partly as a result of low earnings.
