Government departments

  • HM Treasury: Financial Policy Committee – Anil Kashyap appointed to the committee.
  • Foreign and Commonwealth Office: Simon Shercliff has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen.
  • Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy: Nuclear Decommissioning Authority - John Clarke is to retire as Chief Executive in 2017.
  • Cabinet Office: Committee on Standards in Public Life – Jane Ramsey and Jane Martin appointed to the committee.

House of Lords

  • Lord Fowler replaced Baroness D’Souza as Lord Speaker.
  • Lord McFall became Senior Deputy Speaker (the new name for Chairman of Committees).
  • Select Committees on Administration and Works, Information, Refreshment and House have all ended.
  • House of Lords Commission – Lord Fowler appointed Chair of this new senior select committee – Baroness Doocey, Baroness Evans of Bowes Park, Lord Hope of Craighead, Lord Laming, Lord McFall, Baroness McIntosh, Baroness Smith of Basildon, Lord Wakeham ad Lord Wallace of Tankerness appointed as members.
  • Finance Committee – Baroness Doocey appointed Chair of this new select committee; Lord Collins of Highbury, Lord Cope of Berkeley, Earl of Courtown, Lord Cromwell, Lord Cunningham of Felling, Baroness Goudie, Lord Leigh of Hurley, Lord Kerslake and Lord Newby appointed as members.
  • Services Committee – Lord Laming appointed as Chair of this new select committee; Earl Attlee, Lord Bassam of Brighton, Lord Campbell-Savours, Baroness Hollis of Heigham, Lord Hope of Craighead, Baroness Humphreys, Lord Kirkwood of Kirkhope, Earl Shrewsbury and Lord Taylor of Holbeach appointed as members.

House of Commons

  • Keith Vaz has stepped down as chair of the Home Affairs Committee.

  • Dorset Council – Steven Lugg elected for Ferndown – Conservative hold.
  • East Dorset Council – Andrew Parry elected for Parley – Conservative hold.
  • Stockton-on-Tees Council – Stephen Richardson elected for Grangefield – Conservative gain from Labour.

  • Transparency International UK - Duncan Hames has been appointed Director of Policy.
  • University Alliance – John Latham replaced Steve West as Chair.
  • Churches Conservation Trust – Elizabeth Peace reappointed as a member.
  • Mental Health Network – Sean Duggan to become Chief Executive in late November.
  • Mott MacDonald – Brian Gash named as UK Highways Programme Director
  • MHP – Alex Bigg appointed as Chief Executive.
  • Pinsent Masons - Andrew Henderson to become Director of Public Policy, in the new Brexit-focused team.
