Government departments

  • Department for Education: Student Loans Company – Jacqui Smillie named as the new chief financial officer and executive director for finance, commercial and estates and sourcing.
  • Department for Transport: Transport Focus – Kate Denham, Keith Richards and Rob Wilson appointed as board members.
  • Department for Work and Pensions: Single Financial Guidance Body – Mike Dailly and Ann Harris to become non-executive directors when the body comes into effect on 1 October.
  • HM Treasury: Infrastructure and Projects Authority – Alison Baptiste appointed as new director of operations from early October.
  • Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport: S4C – John Davies, Sian Lewis and Guto Harri reappointed to the board.

Non-ministerial departments

  • Competition and Markets Authority – Joel Bamford and Colin Raftery to become senior directors of mergers from 1 September.
  • Information Commissioner's Office – Simon McDougall to join as executive director for technology policy and innovation.

Devolved authorities

  • Scottish Government: Scottish Social Services Council – Lorraine Gray named as chief executive, having been in the role on an interim basis.
  • Scottish Police Authority – Iain Livingstone to become chief executive.
  • Northern Ireland Government: Department for Communities – Tracy Meharg to replace Leo O’Reilly as permanent secretary,

Local authorities

  • Stroud Council – Kathy O’Leary to replace David Hagg as chief executive in November.

By-election results 16 August

  • Bury Council – Gavin McGill elected for East – Labour hold. (Mike Connolly resigned).
  • North Yorkshire Council – David Goode elected for Knaresborough – Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative. (Nicola Wilson resigned).
  • Neath Port Talbot Council – Jane Jones elected for Gwynfi – Independent gain from Labour. (Ralph Thomas resigned).

  • Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy – Lindie Engelbrecht appointed as managing director of education and membership.
  • Chartered Institute of Housing – Aileen Evans elected as vice-president, to start in September.
