Government departments

  • Department of Health and Social Care – Lord O’Shaugnessy to resign as arliamentary under-secretary of health.
  • Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government: Homes England – Ceri Smith appointed to the board.
  • Cabinet Office: Geospatial Commission – Andrew Dilnot appointed as chair, Nigel Clifford as deputy chair.
  • Attorney General’s Office – Duncan Penny named as first senior Treasury counsel (criminal); Sarah Whitehouse as deputy first senior Treasury counsel (criminal).
  • Home Office: Animals in Science Committee – David Main appointed as chair, replacing John Landers on 1 March.
  • Foreign and Commonwealth Office – Alisdair Walker has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the State of Eritrea.

House of Lords

  • Baroness Richardson of Calow (crossbench, life peer) retired on 20th December.

Parties

  • Labour Party – Ivan Lewis, independent MP for Bury South, resigned from the party. Fiona Onasanya, MP for Peterborough, was suspended.

Devolved Authorities

  • Scottish Parliament: Health and Sport Committee – George Adam replaced Keith Brown as a member. Social Security Committee – Keith Brown became a member.

Local Authorities

  • By-election results 21 December: Charnwood Council – Paul Baines elected for Anstey – Conservative gain from Liberal Democrat. (John Sutherington died). Cumbria Council – Pete McSweeney elected for Kent Estuary – Liberal Democrat hold. (Ian Stewart died). South Lakeland Council – Helen Chaffey elected for Arnside and Milnthorpe – Liberal Democrat hold. (Ian Stewart died).

Trade associations

  • UK Finance Charlotte Crosswell and Mark Parsons appointed to the board. Richard Rowntree to replace Miguel Sard as chair of mortgages product and service board in January.

Interest Groups

  • Careers and Enterprise Company – John Yarham appointed as deputy chief executive from April.
  • Battersea – Catherine Miles appointed as fundraising director from January.
