STEM 2019

STEM education is acknowledged as essential for producing well-rounded school-leavers and a skilled, future-focused workforce. It is therefore crucial to look closely at the learner journey that underpins this.

In sectors across the UK economy STEM industries report an alarming shortage of key skills. With the gap between supply and demand for STEM graduates set to widen due to an aging technician and professional engineering workforce, there is urgent need for action. The skills shortage can be most obviously linked to the uptake of STEM subjects in schools and the availability of STEM qualified teachers.

It is essential we improve the number of school leavers with the qualifications and desire to go into STEM careers. By bringing together a variety of stakeholders from primary and secondary education, industry, and local and national government, this event will allow delegates to explore the latest education developments in STEM, share knowledge and expertise, and champion best practice.
