The digital team of the Office for National Statistics is undergoing an “ambitious expansion”, with the creation of eight new senior technical roles.

The position will all sit within the organisation’s Digital Services and Technology directorate, which said that it is growing its team as “demand for our work is increasing”.

The posts include programme delivery managers in four areas: service design; data management; integrated data platform; and collection and ingestion.

The other roles being recruited are all heads of four of the digital unit’s practices in the areas of: user-centred research and design; software engineering; business analysis; and architecture.

“We are ambitious and radical and we use the latest technology to build and develop our services,” the job advert said.

“We could not have delivered the highly successful England and Wales 2021 Census, for example, without our leading-edge tech and agile user-centred service design.”

The positions all come with a salary of between about £60,000 and £70,000. They will be based in the ONS’s offices in either Newport of Fareham – or, at least to some extent, via homeworking.

“We are looking for inspirational and innovative individuals to join our team at this pivotal time, we have roles within our senior team from delivery or technical backgrounds to work with our highly capable digitally skilled workforce,” the advert added.

“We are looking for driven, ambitious and forward-thinking people to join us in these newly created roles. The work we do in ONS matters. It informs government policy and it informs each of us to help make better decisions. The work is interesting, valuable, and innovative. Come be part of our evolution and shape the future of our services.”

Applications for the posts are open until 19 August.
