September’s update on progress against the 2022-2025 roadmap for digital and data is testament to the civil service’s ongoing efforts to build a data-driven culture, ensuring staff are adequately trained to handle data securely and consistently.  Fifteen months on from the publication of government’s three-year strategic plan,  work is already 20% complete on the objective to improve services. However, siloed working practices, lack of skills and legacy IT are stubborn roadblocks in key areas of transformation.

In this CSW webinar, hosted in partnership with Civica, a panel of senior officials shared their experiences tackling these challenges. They shed light on the dos and don’ts of data sharing for better decision-making and offered hands-on advice on ensuring data is fit for purpose.

Chaired by CSW co-editor Suzannah Brecknell, on the panel are:

  • Fiona James, Chief Data Officer and Director, Data Growth and Operations at the Office of National Statistics
  • Aravindhan Rajasekar, Head of Data at Government People Group, Cabinet Office
  • Heather Whicker, Deputy Director, Data Transformation & Deputy CDO at DLUHC
  •  Mark Humphries,  Consultancy Director at Civica
