  • Ministry of Justice: Judicial Appointments Commission – Philippa Whipple appointed as a Commissioner.
  • Home Office: Cressida Dick named as the next Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police; Max Hill named as the government's new Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation.
  • Foreign and Commonwealth Office: Susan le Jeune d'Allegeershecque CMG has been appointed British High Commissioner to Canada; Iain Walker has been appointed Her Majesty's British High Commissioner to the Republic of Ghana
  • Department for Culture, Media and Sport: UK Anti-Doping - Trevor Pearce appointed as Chair, replacing David Kenworth; Tate – Seona Reid reappointed as a Trustee; Historic England – Alex Balfour and Victoria Harle reappointed as Commissioners.
  • Department for Communities and Local Government: Homes and Communities Agency Board - Stephen Bell, Richard Blakeway, Simon Dudley and and Teresa O’Neill appointed to the board; Local Government Ombudsman – Nigel Ellis promoted to become the new Chief Executive.
  • Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy: Low Pay Commission – Bryan Sanderson appointed as Interim Chair.

House of Commons

  • Trudy Harrison was elected as the new MP for Copeland.
  • Gareth Snell was elected as the new MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central.
  • International Development Committee – Ivan Lewis replaced Albert Owen as a member.
  • Work of the Independent Commission for Aid Impact Sub-committee – Ivan Lewis appointed as a member.

Devolved Assemblies

  • Scottish Government: Iona Colvin has been appointed as the Scottish Government's new Chief Social Work Adviser.

Local Authorities

  • Birmingham City Council – Mark Rogers to step down as Chief Executive.

By-election Results 21st February

  • Basingstoke Council – Angie Freeman elected for Winklebury – Labour gain from Conservative.

By-election Results 23rd February

  • Epping Forest Council – Darshan Singh Sunger elected for Chigwell Village – Conservative hold.
  • Kettering Council – Andrew Dutton elected for Barton – Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
  • South Hams Council - Elizabeth Huntley elected for Charterlands – Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.

  • Shelter – Polly Neate appointed as chief executive.
  • Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations – Asheem Singh stood down as Director of Public Policy and will not be replaced.
