Smarter working is a game changer for Civil Service reform. At its heart is The Way We Work (TW3), a programme led by the Cabinet Office whose aim is to transform the working environment for civil servants.

Earlier this year BT hosted the first TW3 award ceremony to highlight the great work being done by civil servants across government.

Led by permanent secretary for the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills Martin Donnelly, the awards were an opportunity to discover how departments are innovating to create a flexible working environment to meet 21st century needs.

Nominations from 12 different government departments were submitted to a panel of judges represented by some of the country’s foremost experts, chaired by Olly Robbins, Director General of the Civil Service.

Judges had the unenviable task of reducing 46 entries to just three per category and the strength of entries revealed how much the public sector is a standard bearer for more agile working. In this, the government has much in common with BT, which first pioneered more flexible working 20 years ago.

Relive the awards in the highlights video, and hear how BT can help you work smarter.
