The masterclasses will be developed by the government in partnership with the voluntary and private sectors to help VCS organisations to develop better commercial skills, supporting charities’ bids for public sector work.

Workshops will start next year, offering classes that include writing winning bids; adjusting to changes in the tender process; developing consortia; and financial skills such as how to profile and manage risks.

The “masterclasses will make sure these organisations do not miss out,” said Nick Hurd, the minister for civil society.
