The government is seeking a supplier to deliver employee benefits across government departments and the wider public sector through an online system.
Crown Commercial Service has published a contract notice seeking a commercial partner to provide a range of benefits and an online platform through which public sector employees can access them.
The chosen provider will also be expected to demonstrate its ability to adequately protect the personal data of employees – with security measures subject to assessment by information-risk professionals from CCS.
Benefits that must be offered via the platform are: a childcare voucher programme; a cycle-to-work scheme; a programme offering “reward and recognition”; a charity-giving service; a discounts scheme, including savings on smartphones and other technology products; discounted gym memberships; a financial wellbeing service; and a green car programme.
Once it launches, the new platform “will be the recommended vehicle for all employee benefits required by UK central government departments – including those with locations overseas – and the wider public sector”, according to CCS.
Other organisations that could use the platform include government agencies, devolved administrations, schools and charities.
Bids for the project are open until 19 June, ahead of a scheduled contract start date of 14 August. Over its four-year lifespan, the deal is expected to be worth £380m to the winning bidder.
