Since 2012, we’ve worked with 14 different forces to help them make the switch to NicheRMS (an off-the-shelf platform) or develop what they already had. And this is making it easier for them to solve crimes and protect vulnerable people.
Before, some forces used at least three or four legacy systems at once. These kept vast records but held duplicates and data was difficult to access. We prepared and moved the data to make it available from launch.
Although we tailored and implemented each force’s system individually, shared databases mean forces can collaborate, accessing each other’s records. Being able to connect crucial pieces of evidence is helping them secure arrests they previously might have missed. This highlights the value of readily-available, contextualised information. The new systems manage the end-to-end processes, transforming how forces manage investigations and intelligence, while making procedures for taking people into custody and preparing cases more consistent.
We managed every aspect of the system’s implementation – from procurement, business design, and technology architecture through to business change. Our senior experts were embedded in police teams so they could easily transfer skills. And tight programme management meant we delivered as agreed. The results are felt by every member of each force, every single day. The new ‘one-stop-shop’ allows for consistent policies and procedures. And, through better access to data, forces can make a more effective difference to people’s lives.
