We are seeking an enthusiastic, user-centred and data-driven Product Manager to lead one of DWP's key data and insight products within the DWP Insights Programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and delivery of high-profile products that support decision-making across one of the UK's largest and most complex government departments. You will be responsible for shaping product vision, strategy and delivery, ensuring that our insight and visualisation services meet the needs of users at every level of the organisation.
Working within DWP Insights, part of the Data & Analytics Group, you will lead the development of Management Information (MI), reporting and visualisation products used across the Department. Leveraging both bespoke and off-the-shelf technologies, including Power BI and other modern analytics platforms, you will enable colleagues to access timely, accurate and actionable insights that drive better outcomes.
The DWP MI Service has over 22,000 users across DWP staff, making it a highly used and key service within many every day DWP functions, and therefore the products we develop are relied upon by a diverse range of users, from frontline operational managers to the Department's Executive Team and Ministers. As such, responsiveness, reliability and continuous improvement are critical. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders and users to ensure products deliver measurable value and support the Department's ambition to become increasingly data driven.
As a leader, you will be as passionate about people as you are about products. You will create an environment where teams are empowered to innovate, collaborate and deliver high-quality services that meet user needs. You will balance strategic thinking with hands-on product leadership, using evidence, user insight and data to inform decisions and prioritisation.
Location
This role may be located in one of the following locations; Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield.
Please find further information on the Corporate hub locations here.
Please note that for candidates requesting to work in Newcastle, the role will initially be based at Benton Park View. It will then move to 1 Pilgrim Place in Newcastle city centre by the end of 2027.
Job description
As a Product Manager for the MI suite, you will lead and drive high profile products for the large and complex DWP MI programme. You will be as passionate about people as you are about products, leading teams to define, design and deliver your vision and realise the value for your users. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality products supporting the increased use of data across DWP, ensuring that the needs of our users are met.
You’ll be responsible for:

- Owning the product roadmap.
- Making key priority calls.
- Making evidence-based strategic and tactical product choices.
- Communicating product success to stakeholders.
- Explaining controversial choices about your product.

The main areas of responsibility for this role are:
- Working with various stakeholders to develop products for the DWP MI programme.
- Providing leadership and direction to the product teams, working with multi-disciplinary, Agile teams to shape the scope and high-level roadmaps for critical MI products and services.
- Tracking progress against goals and performance metrics for all MI products within the programme evaluating success against defined outcomes.
- Co-ordinating development across multiple MI products.
- Ensure MI products are developed to an appropriate level of quality taking into consideration data, user and accessibility requirements.
- Building and maintaining a relationship with external partners, seeking to capitalise on their knowledge and expertise.
