Civil Service Award winners announced

This year’s Civil Service Award winners were announced yesterday, at a ceremony held at Lancaster House and featuring speeches by prime minister David Cameron and deputy prime minister Nick Clegg.

The winners received their awards from top officials and politicians including Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude MP, cabinet secretary Sir Jeremy Heywood, civil service CEO John Manzoni, Public Accounts Committee chair Margaret Hodge MP, transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin, and the permanent secretaries Chris Wormald, Richard Heaton, Ursula Brennan and Una O’Brien.

Amyas Morse, comptroller and auditor general of the National Audit Office, was on the judging panel for this year’s awards and told CSW that the quality of nominations was “absolutely fantastic, I’m very impressed. [It was] a very high standard of entry. It’s a pity we couldn’t have awarded twice as many.”
