Sharon White dubbed the favourite for Ofcom chief exec role

Second Permanent Secretary to the Treasury Sharon White is the lead candidate for the role of Ofcom chief executive, according to Sky News.

According to the report, White was recommended to the Culture Secretary Sajid Javid for the role and could be named in post as early as next week.

An Ofcom spokesperson said: “The recruitment process is on-going.”

White has been the only visible permanent secretary from an ethnic minority since 2012. If she is selected for post of chief executive at Ofcom, she will be the first woman to head the regulatory body.
