New ICT frameworks 'paused'

The development of new ICT procurement frameworks by the Government Procurement Service (GPS) has been “paused” while a review is undertaken to ensure they’re offering the best value for money.

The review will assess the process used to pull together lists of pre-approved suppliers. Where procurements are in motion and using existing lists, they will continue; but all the frameworks currently under development will be halted until the review has been completed.

Bill Crothers, the government’s chief procurement officer, has asked David Shields, the managing director of the GPS, to lead the review.

Crothers said he wants “to ensure GPS framework agreements are driving the greatest competition, and achieving a wider range of suppliers”
