Sir Iain Lobban, director of GCHQ, is to leave his post at the end of this year. He has worked for GCHQ since 1983, and took over the role in 2008.

Richard Caseby, (pictured above) former managing editor of The Sun and The Sunday Times, has been appointed as the new director of communications at the Department of Work and Pensions. He will join the department on 3 March.

Scotland’s chief medical officer, Sir Harry Burns, is leaving his post.
