Government departments

  • Home Office: Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme – Bryan Clark replaced Gordon Shipley as director.
  • Department for Education: Construction Industry Training Board – Peter Lauener to become chair on 1 May, replacing James Wates.
  • Department for International Trade: John Mahon appointed as director-general, exports.
  • Ministry of Justice: Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service – Edward Timpson appointed as chair.

Non-ministerial departments

  • Competition and Markets Authority – Andrew Tyrie to become chair.
  • Serious Fraud Office – Mark Thompson to replace David Green as director on an interim basis from 21 April.

Devolved authorities

  • Scottish Government: Scottish Social Services Council – Lorraine Gray to become interim chief executive in late April, replacing Anna Fowlie.

Local authorities: by-election results 12 April

  • St Edmundsbury Council – Max Clarke elected for St Olaves – Labour hold. (Bob Cockle resigned).
  • South Northamptonshire Council – Jonathan Riley elected for Middleton Cheney – Conservative hold. (Judith Baxter resigned).
  • Chichester Council – Kate O’Kelly elected for Rogate – Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative. (Gillian Keegan MP resigned).
