Government is seeking to recruit a senior manager to lead a major programme intended to ensure the interoperability of technology across departments.
The One IT scheme is being led by the Central Digital and Data Office, which is based in the Cabinet Office. The project has a “vision to harness existing and emerging digital technology to enable seamless interoperability across UK government organisations”, according to a recently posted job advert for a programme head.
Ensuring interoperable IT will enable departments to collaborate more effectively, as well as reducing risk, improving security, and helping to mitigate issues caused by legacy technology, it added.
The programme leader, who will earn up to £77,000 a year, will be expected to provide “leadership in developing the technical, commercial and procurement strategies for cross-government interoperability projects”.
The appointee will also be responsible for “commercial management of complex relationships” with suppliers, while also “engaging effectively across government organisations”.
“The successful candidate will manage delivery of cross-government projects to drive collaboration and enable a seamlessly interoperable civil service,” the advert said.
Applicants are invited to submit a CV and covering letter of up to 750 words by 11.55pm on 26 September.
