“I know that we have a shared commitment to improving the health of our staff, and I’d encourage you to make that commitment public through signing up to one or more of the Responsibility Deal ‘health at work’ pledges,” O’Brien wrote.

These pledges set down standards in the workplace and encourage employees to maintain a healthy diet, have responsible drinking habits and increase their physical activity.

O’Brien also sent a document admitting that “public sector sign up is low and we would like to see more central government departments participating” in the campaigns.
