Speaking in an interview with CSW, profession head Ruth Owen said the training would help “re-stress, not only to our own members but to people in other profession, that this is a profession, you can qualify and have a high level of qualifications in delivery.”

“People haven’t felt equal status to some of the more traditional professions,” she added. “Sometimes the operational teams feel that they’ve been left behind a bit compared to other professions.” The new qualifications are accredited by City & Guilds and the Chartered Management Institute. They cover all levels, said Owen, and “are exceptionally good value for money – so no department can say: ‘You can’t have the money to take those qualifications’.
