Well this was a fairly unusual parliamentary moment...

Permanent secretaries have long been used to being badgered to "answer the question" by MPs on the Public Accounts Committee.

But Wednesday's PAC session – with the Department for Business' permanent secretary Martin Donnelly – contained a bit of gem.

Richard Bacon, the Tory MP and long-serving PAC member, rather cheekily forced Donnelly to comment on arguably the internet's greatest moment – the online poll which resulted in overwhelming public support for naming a polar research ship used by the Natural Environment Research Council "Boaty McBoatface".
