Andy Nelson is moving from the Ministry of Justice, where he is chief information officer (CIO), to become CIO of the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP). Nelson, who is also government CIO, is moving to DWP to replace CIO Philip Langsdale, who died this year. The Cabinet Office is “currently considering the role of government CIO”, a spokesperson said: it has not yet decided whether Nelson will keep the role, or even whether the role itself will be retained.

The new finance and commercial director of Public Health England is Michael Brodie. He is currently finance director at the NHS Business Services Authority, where he is responsible for finance, property and corporate social responsibility.

Professor David Haslam is the new chair of the National Institute for Clinical Excellence. His appointment has been approved by MPs on the Commons Health Committee, and he takes over from Professor Sir Michael Rawlins.

Phil Bartlett has been replaced as chief executive of MyCSP, after leading the body in its transition from a civil service organisation to a joint-venture mutual. The chairman of the company, Lord Hutton, told ProfessionalPensions.com that “Phil did a great job in getting the business to this point. The board was very clear that it was the right time for a change in leadership.” The new chief executive is Nicky Hurst, who was chief operating officer of Paymaster.
