Decc appoints new executive director for Gas and Electricity Markets Authority

Regulator Ofgem’s energy markets inquiry lead Rachel Fletcher appointed for seven-year term

The Department for Energy and Climate Change (Decc) has appointed a new executive director for the steering body that oversees energy networks regulator Ofgem.

Rachel Fletcher will run the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority for the next seven years, a statement from Decc said.

Fletcher joined Ofgem in 2005 and was its lead for the Competition and Markets Authority’s energy markets inquiry. She is currently senior partner at Ofgem’s consumers and competition division.

Decc today also announced the appointment of Christine Farnish as non-executive director at GEMA.
