Delays to CS reform plan

The schedule for implementing parts of the Civil Service Reform Plan has “slipped”, Francis Maude, minister for the Cabinet Office, has admitted.

Speaking to the Public Administration Select Committee last week, Maude said the Shared Services Review will not be published until next year because the process of getting agreement on what needs to be done has been “unbelievably slow”. He added that the five-year Capabilities Plan “is not ready”.

Maude said: “It has taken longer than any of us would have wanted to assemble a team around the implementation of the Reform Plan. That is now just about in place; not complete, but getting there.”
