Civil servants who request a quote in July for their pension should expect to receive payment upon their retirement on time, Angela MacDonald has said.
The Civil Service Pension Scheme has been in crisis since Capita took on its administration on 1 December 2025, with thousands of retired civil servants and beneficiaries not receiving payments, retirement quotes being delayed for months on end, as well as a swathe of technical issues.
The civil service pensions recovery taskforce boss said in her latest update on work to turn around the scheme that Capita “is now in a position where members requesting a quote in July for a retirement date four months away should expect to retire and receive the correct pension payment on time”.
She noted that Capita will not process quotations requests which are for dates beyond a four-month timescale.
MacDonald also provided an update on the Civil Service Pension Scheme retirement modeler after its launch was delayed in April due to "functionality issues”.
She said: “Unfortunately, limited progress has been on releasing the new retirement modeller. I know this will be disappointing news as there is currently no interactive tool for members to project their pension or lump sum estimates. I have no timescale for when this will be available."
MacDonald also said she will issue a further taskforce update on Thursday 2 July outlining Capita’s end-of-June position. Capita agreed with the Cabinet Office in January that it would recover the scheme to contracted service levels by the end of June.
More recently, Capita said it was eyeing a “more normalised” service by the end of June. The firm said it would “deliver a materially more stable service for the majority of members” but "this may not represent full recovery across all services".
