Government departments

  • Cabinet Office: Senior Salaries Review Body – Pippa Lambert re-appointed as a member for three years from 12 October. Sir Adrian Johns’ appointment as a member extended for eleven-months from 1 September.
  • Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport: Information Commissioner’s Office – John Edwards announced as the government's preferred nominee to be the next information commissioner. The appointment is subject to approval by the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee, followed by approval by the Queen.
  • Department of Health and Social Care: NHS England – Professor Charlotte McArdle appointed as deputy chief nursing officer for patient safety and improvement.
  • Department for International Trade – New trade envoys appointed: Lord Botham appointed to Australia; Marco Longhi MP appointed to Brazil; Sir Jeffrey Donaldson MP appointed to Cameroon, in addition to his role as trade envoy to Egypt; Conor Burns MP appointed to Canada; Baroness Hoey appointed to Ghana; Felicity Buchan MP appointed to Iceland and Norway; David Mundell MP appointed to New Zealand; Mark Eastwood MP appointed to Pakistan; Stephen Timms MP appointed to Switzerland and Liechtenstein; Lord Walney appointed to Tanzania
  • Ministry of Justice: Criminal Cases Review Commission – Helen Pitcher re-appointed as chair for five years from 1 November to 31 October 2026. Crown Office – Lt Gen Sir George Norton appointed as Lieutenant of Her Majesty's Tower of London, replacing Lt Gen Sir Simon Vincent Mayal.
